from PERC Photography School cover many photography topics and disciplines. Our studio workshops are meant for photographers of all skill and equipment levels. 

In our studio workshops you are introduced to an amazing array of gear, from 5 different types of lighting, to light modifiers and reflectors. Depending on the session, you may work with wireless flash triggers, tethered cameras, and Infrared (IR) gear. Other items may include props, backdrops, filters, and more.

Studio Workshops Topics

The PERC Photography School studio workshops cover posing, lighting, composition, product photography, macro, and more. They also cover maternity, infant, children, pet, and family portraits. Finally, some studio workshops cover editing in Lightroom, Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. Custom studio workshops can cover any topic you may need. 

Also, studio workshops include immediate feedback, camera and lighting guidance, and moral support from experienced photographers.

MAT CUTTING & MOUNTING MADE EASY (114)

Glossary-Triple MatThe workshop is ideal for photographers, artists and art collectors of all experience levels. It is a great way for you to learn how to professionally display your photos or artwork without breaking the bank. After this course you will not have to pay labor costs at a framing shop, plus the included Materials Resource list will show you were to shop for the greatest mounting hardware and accessories bargains.

In this hands-on workshop, students learn how to precisely measure, cut and assemble custom mats for their 2D artwork (paintings, sketches, drawings, blueprints, postcards, collectibles, etc.) and photographs.

They also learn mat cutting terminology, types of mats, types of backing materials, types of glazing and care and maintenance of matted and framed artwork.

It covers single and multi-window mats, single, double and triple matting, museum matting, how to choose mat colors, making re-usable mats for competitions, display / hanging methods and more. 

IMG_0086All materials are supplied as part of the workshop, including professional grade mat board, backing board, acid-free hinges, dust cover kraft paper, hanging hardware and more.  You will receive materials for a single mat for an 8x10 print in an 11x14 frame. Bring an 8x10 print in for mounting and matting. Tuition includes materials fee of $30 per student.

PRINTING: FINE ART, TRANSFERS & ALTERNATE DIGITAL TECHNIQUES WORKSHOP (414)

This workshop provides hands-on instruction and all the needed tools and supplies for you to create one of a kind images from YOUR digital photos or scanned film images. In addition to the beautiful hand crafted prints you will create during the event, you will take the tools and extra supplies home to make more of your own magic!

We will cover various forms of Fine Art printing such as Transfer Prints and Direct Prints using special coatings and solutions to make prints on many types of IMG_1278alternative or non-standard surfaces such as wood, ceramic tile, metal and many more.

You will learn how to:

  • create a digital negative from your digital image,
  • scan a print and turn it into a digital negative,
  • treat your paper / surface with various solutions,
  • print the negative onto special transparency film,

  • adjust images in Photoshop to achieve the best prints,
  • select different papers for different effects,
  • how to prepare images to be transferred,
  • "print" to a wide array of surfaces - kraft paper, ceramic tile, metal, wood and cloth to name a few.
